The short version
Snapr runs on your computer. Your screenshots, recordings and the text inside them never reach our servers. There's no account to create. The only time Snapr talks to us is when you activate (or remove) a Pro license, and a once-a-day check for new versions.
What stays on your PC
- Captures, recordings, guides and History
- Text recognized in screenshots (for search and redaction)
- Settings, the search index and your license, stored encrypted with Windows (DPAPI) so only your user account on that PC can read them
When data leaves your PC
- Uploads you choose: files go directly from your PC to the provider you connected (Google Drive, Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2 or Imgur), under that provider's privacy policy.
- Google Drive: Snapr requests only the
drive.filepermission — access to files Snapr creates, nothing else — plus your email address to show which account is connected. - Purchases: handled by our payment provider, Dodo Payments, who receives your payment details. We receive your email address and order details so we can send you your license key.
- Activating Pro: when you activate a key (once per PC), Snapr sends us the key, your PC's name (e.g. "DESKTOP-MAIN") and a random ID created by Snapr for that install. We use these only to count how many PCs use your key (3 at most) and to show them on your device page. No hardware identifiers, screenshots or files are sent.
- Removing a PC: "Remove license from this PC" and the device page tell us which install to remove.
- Update check: once a day, Snapr downloads a small public file listing the latest version number. Nothing about you is sent.
- Support: messages you send through the support form, and emails you send us, go to our inbox so we can reply.
What we store, and for how long
- For each license: your email address, the key, payment reference, and the name, random ID and activation date of each PC using it. Kept as long as the license exists, so you can recover and move it.
- Device-page sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and are deleted automatically.
- Emails are sent through Resend. Data is stored with MongoDB Atlas. The site runs on Vercel.
- To see or delete your data, email support@snapr.dev. Deleting it also ends your license.
